Proposition 37 the California Food Labeling initiative on the November 2012 ballot is facing stiff opposition from many companies that promote their products as safe, “natural” and organic.
Brands names such as Odwalla, Cascadian Farms, Horizon and others which are owned by large corporations such as Hormel Foods, Kelloggs Co., Smucker are the very same corporations that are dumping large sums of money to defeat the proposition. Is anyone else confused?
In case you didn’t know, the word “Natural” on a food label does NOT mean it is organic or safe to eat. In many cases, this is a marketing ploy to make consumers feel more comfortable about our food purchases.
Please read this list of donors prepared by the Organic Consumers Association and decide for yourself if you want to support these companies or the brands of foods they distribute.
